After writing the last post, I went out to run a quick errand and ran into Mahmoud, the (Muslim Palestinian Israeli Arab) man who cleans our building. I asked him if he had family in Gaza, to which he replied:
"No, but my heart still hurts. It hurts when people die, no matter if they are family or not, Muslim or Jewish or Christian, it's people who are dying. War has no winner, just victims [he used the word קרבן which also means religious sacrifices]. If you are a human being, it hurts your heart when people die, no matter who they are."
