For the first time since 2003, it is snowing in Jerusalem. Let me say that yesterday it technically snowed, but it was more of a driving rain mixed with snow. All of Jerusalem shut down, though we in Boston would have driven in it. None of the cars here are equipped with all-weather tires, so no one could get to work. Buses didn't run, either. And that meant -- no pre-school for the girls either. Thankfully, Phyllis and Sam decided to stay in Tel Aviv last night (no snow there) so they would be sure to make their early AM flight this morning out of Israel. I heard they made the flight.
Today, we awoke to a beautiful layer of white snow. Throughout the morning it has continued to snow as well. I'll take the girls outside later to play in it. Meanwhile, they are playing with their "flower computer" (a wooden "game" where the object is to match up the parts of the flower on a wooden peg board to a card with the picture.) Kids think up the greatest names. They haven't gone too stir crazy this morning, though it is only 9:30 and they've been up for two hours. Aaron is sleeping in, as he let me do yesterday.
I hope to take some great photos of Jerusalem in the snow, and post them here later today.
Internet has been intermittent, so it might be a day or two!
